Fertal
Been a change in plans here. Jarlath's group will be escorting the New Champions here that are named. . . . . Artizza 2 Thessamer and Fertal 2 D'Honaire!
"Wha. . . wha. . . ?" I stammer, first staring at my twin (who's also staring right back at me, and then looking rather stupidly over at Rule 1. My love and her counterpart, meanwhile, are still staring at each other as if spell bound.
Yes, Jenny had said that she'd glimpsed them before we'd left off on her Validation Quest. I and my love had intellectually agreed that such had been possible (and their existence would well explain just why we'd had such a hard time at things), but still!. . . . .
Rule 1 sighs, looking a bit embarrassed at this all, and then right before disappearing without even a flash of light he sent the basics of the mission we were to help them on (if we so choose) going to be told by them
Them. . . .
I feel so. . . . . warm towards my. . . . . brother. . . . Even closer than all the other "Freds" I've met thus far. . . .
Well, after finally getting over the shock of meeiting "themselves" (in a sense) our analogs sputter out what they' were here to do. What we get is basically the same thing the one as Ragan had gotten from them when they'd first met (re: 25209). It was basically "follow-on" business on "Aylse" after Dr. Who's Quest (Chiana's Validation Quest) had been completed. Basically, they said that the very object of their Quest is nothing less than Analogs of themselves! That is, yet another elfin set named Fertal 3 and Artizza 3! If they win this Quest (a Challenge set up by a very naughty little girl right before she got royally "smacked down" as Elrondir puts it later), these analogs get free of all claims from the Office of Evil and (due to prior wishes) can become yet ANOTHER set of Champions. . . .
"If not, then the analogs are going to have to face resisting the persuasion techniques for recruitment into a Shadow War," Fertal 2 (my brother) finishes up, frowning unhappily. "I don't want that to happen to them, because. . . "
He shudders, remembering the knife his own hand had jabbed into his heart. I shudder as well, remembering that his fate could have been mine if things had been different.
So of course we accept the mission! I will NOT let the forces of Hell. . . . I will not let my fellow brother and elf down if I have any say in the matter! Jarlath and friends chime in as well, ready for helpinig. . . .and suddenly without even a "how do you do" we find ourselves standing on a new world!!
Aylse. Without even a chance of trying to mine Inquirer for information about this place (since in a sense she knows it so well from the games she's refereed in TORG). Then again, I find out later that whatever she'd be able to give would be invalid by now. See, things have gotten. . . . strange here. See, back before INquirer and friends arrived, Aylse had been a flat world, literally. One that was like a coin, with people living on each side of the coin and the sun rising and falling through a hole in the center, timed to the day and night cycle. No real stars as we know it, just lights in the sky at night in constellations.
Now? Well, things changed and point in fact Aylse was part of the newest real estate in Dr. Who's universe. In one of those areas that had been slated for "matter insertion" (has something to do with the arcane business of it being a "steady state" universe). Point being is that Aylse was now a hodgepodge round world, with portions of it smeared all over the new sphere, with additions from other realities (via some "slipgate action" I guess).
And all this without even a refreshing or re-equipment! Then again, we all know woodlore and such so we aren't babes in the woods (i.e. we'll adapt)!
Well, we need to track down our fellow brothers an sister elves before it is too late. At the time it will look like we would eventually be something like an elfin triple play, but later we'll see it's FOUR!
"Three is a magic number," Artizza 2 giggles, finally after a whispered conversation with her twin. "That is what they say after all. . . ."
But right now, we have a problem that almost literally runs us down as they come down the forest path . . Problem is, we will have more problems than what we expected. . . . As witnesss the rather overly large "female Dark Elf" named Dreamwalker (re: 25767) we almost run into who's stalking a rather . . . A rather lame and STUPID version of my old human self. . . . .
Here is a more detailed (and hopefully clearer) recap on what had happened after almost getting run over by some horses ridden by "Fred and friends". We get told some of this by the guy in the course of things . . . Well, you see this Fred (after somehow failing to kill the Dragon of the Southern Caverns of his world) had been somehow magically deposited near the holdings of one Baron Zeitgeist, mystically tasked with bring down the man (who I am told is an evil mage bent on the usual silly bard's tale, world conquest or destruction) How drole. Well, after several misadventures, nearly blowing his new mission in gettting himself killed, he'd landed the aid of one of his world's version of an elf named "Quirlos" who'd basically been tasked (from what I gather) in aiding him in his quest. . . . . . And his action of rejecting that offer of aid kind of . . . . Kind of reminds me a little bit of myself if I'd followed most of the others of my world's Aqualarian high blooded peers and distrusted magic (more than I'd did back when I'd been human). Well, if nothing else coming into my rightful form broadened my horizons! Well, this Fred is some piece of work. Arrogance and stupidity rolled into a nice, neat little package. Way he insulted me and my . . . He is lucky I am feeling generous today . . . . Him and his friends he'd picked up along the way named Jernicus and Jarvis are testing my and my friends patience!! Twits! The lot of them!! Especially running their horses around at night, risking twisting their nags' leg on an unseen root or some hole!! Well, I'm and the others silently agree to just let these boobs (Jarlath's words) go off on their own device and discover just how lost they really are! This isn't their Terra (or whatever they call their homeworld), but Aylse . . . We were on our way off away from the fools when I and the other elves catch glimpse of a tall, dark eyed elfin lass that . . . . looks like she'd been hunting . . . . She's actually stepped off onto the trail and is just gaping both at me and over at the way we'd just come, as if something just isn't making any sense for her . . . . Feel no kinship at all for this poor, meager, bigoted, good for nothing excuse of an analog. . . .
As it turns out, these "Dark Elven" hunters about will make things. . . .difficult for us. We're going to be hunting for our elfin brother and sister, all the while trying not to run into too many of these perversions of elfin nature (who are out trying to hunt down their quarry, their world's version of Fred in some now doomed to failure to summon some kind of entity to bring on the end of the world or something). Would have worked on their world, but the mage who created these creatures is back there, and not here (and he's needed for that ceremony to work, I wont).
This "Dreamwalker" or whatever managed to make an escape before things got too hot for her . . . . The thing that will make things even harder, I feel, will be the fact that if these hunters should try to track down and kill (and fail) our elfin brother and sister, then they will be hiding as well (making it even harder for US to find them).
Sigh
Why us?
And the objects of this quest? Them and some unexpected elfin "wildcards"?
Well, let us recap on what befallen them, eh?
http://www. geocities.com/rule179/Plot Summaries/ elfdenial.htm Artizza 4 "How. . . .are we going to snap them out of this?" my love asks, looking at me in consternation. "Well," I says, thinking. "Maybe if we try a 'hands on' approach." Originally, I had this vague idea of us going up to them and trying to shake some sense into them (literally), but after climbing up into the tower after "The Prince" (Fertal's brother), when we touched them. . . . .
